New Horizons Healthcare Assists with Affordable Health Coverage for Adults

If you are single and earn less than $1,438 per month, you may be eligible for Virginia’s New Health Coverage for Adults. If you have a family of three and earn less than $2,454 per month, you may be eligible. There are many more options for family size. Even if you have health insurance, this health coverage is worth looking into.

It’s easy to check your eligibility. Go online to coverva.org/screening and answer the five questions about your family and income. 

The new, affordable health coverage offers these benefits and more:

  • Doctor, hospital and emergency services, including primary and specialty care
  • Prescription drugs
  • Laboratory and X-ray services
  • Maternity and newborn care
  • Home health services
  • Behavioral health services, including addiction and recovery treatment services
  • Rehabilitative services, including physical, occupational and speech therapies
  • Family planning services
  • Medical equipment and supplies
  • Preventive and wellness services, including annual wellness exams, immunizations, smoking cessation and nutritional counseling

If it looks like you are eligible for the New Health Coverage for Adults, you can enroll at any time. It may take a few weeks to process your application, so please don’t wait until you’re sick and need to see a doctor.

No appointment is necessary; a Hispanic translator and translated materials are available.

Individuals can enroll by:

  • Calling the Cover Virginia Call Center at 1-855-242-8282 (TDD: 1-888-221-1590) to apply on the phone: Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • Completing a New Health Coverage for Adults application online at www.commonhelp.virginia.gov.
